Our Sustainability Approach

Momentum Metropolitan Holdings is a company that enables people from all walks of life and business to achieve their financial goals and life aspirations. Our values of accountability, integrity and innovation mean that we take ownership for our responsibilities, our actions and their results, that we believe in doing what is right, and that we challenge ourselves to change the world for the better.

As part of our overall commitment to good sustainability principles, we strive to be financially sound, socially responsible as well as environmentally friendly, with good corporate governance as the overarching principle. In our Code of Ethics, we specify that we respect the world we operate in and are committed to improving the well-being of its societies by designing sustainable products and introducing sustainable services that will fulfil the needs of our stakeholders.

The FTSE/JSE Responsible Investment Index

Momentum Metropolitan is listed on the FTSE/JSE Responsible Investment Index, which acknowledges our ESG achievements. In addition to this, the global index company FTSE Group confirms that we have been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria, and has satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series. FTSE4Good is an equity index series that is designed to facilitate investment in companies that meet globally recognised corporate responsibility standards. Companies in the FTSE4Good Index Series have met stringent ESG criteria and are positioned to capitalise on the benefits of responsible business practice.

Sustainability Governance

The Group Finance Director has ultimate responsibility for the Sustainability Department, which is responsible for climate-related issues. The Group Executive Committee, which performs a management review function for sustainability initiatives, raises relevant issues with the following committees of the board as and when appropriate:

  • Audit
  • Fair practices
  • Risk and compliance
  • Social, ethics and transformation

Final accountability rests with the Board and its Committees, including the executive committees.
