Dan Moyane

Experience:

Dan has been responsible for corporate communication and corporate social investment at MMI Holdings Ltd since 2009. Dan’s strengths lie in his people skills, leadership and management skills. He is a seasoned broadcaster with 39 years of experience under his belt, having worked as a news reporter, editor and anchor. His broadcasting credentials include Radio Mozambique’s English Service, BBC, Talk Radio 702, SABC and eNCA.

Naadiyah Moosajee

Experience:

Naadiya Moosajee was appointed to the board in 2018. She brings a wealth of experience in technical engineering, innovative education curriculum development, executive women leadership development and entrepreneurship. She is the co-founder at WomHub, an entreprenuer development and advisory firm and WomEng a global social enterprise developing women and girls for the engineering and tech industry and advocating for gender parity in STEM. She is a board director at Pegasys, a niche management consultancy, a Global Future Council Member with the World Economic Forum covering Gender, Education and the Future of Work, and was awarded a Special Honour at the BRICS Summit by the Government of China for her work in girl’s education in STEM in Africa.

Experience:

Abed Tau was appointed to the Board in 2018. He started his career in the audit division at Deloitte, first in Johannesburg and then Philadelphia in the United States. He returned in 2013 to head up its Leadership Division in Johannesburg. He is the founder and CEO of Thamani Strategic Investments (Pty) Ltd which includes Tamani Consulting and Tamani Financial Services. He also co-founded Tuta-Me, a technology start-up in the education sector. His love for technology led him to co-found a technology development company that focuses on producing systems and applications to organizations and businesses called Silicon Maboneng Jozi.

Tasnim Alli

BA Humanities, Honours in Anthropology, Masters in Anthropology

Experience:

Tasnim Alli joined Metropolitan in 2014 as a research analyst and anthropologist. She writes on financial issues, organisational culture, digital identity and beauty. She was the project coordinator for the National Council Against Smoking and Chosen from 2010 to 2013 and attended the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Global Tobacco Control Leadership Program in Baltimore, USA. Before joining Metropolitan, she was a lecturer in Anthropology at the University of Johannesburg and the University of South Africa.

Lulama Booi

Experience:

Lulama is an experienced Finance Business Leader with over 14 years of experience in the financial services industry, including banking and insurance. After completing her articles at Standard Bank, Lulama spent a further 4 years at Standard Bank and later joined MMI Holdings Ltd. She is currently the CEO of the Balance Sheet Management function at MMI Holdings. She is also a seasoned credit professional, having honed her craft through over nine years as an analyst and continues to serve as an executive member of the MMI Holdings Executive Credit Committee as well as a non-executive member of the Aluwani Capital Partners’ Credit Committee.

Lulama is passionate about the youth development and transformation of businesses. She serves as a Trustee on the MMI Holdings Masikhulise Enterprise and Supplier Development Trust and is a Non-Executive Director of SilverBridge Holdings Ltd, a software services company listed on the JSE’s Alt-X and Aluwani Capital Partners, a growing Investment Management business operating in South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. Lulama is also the Training Officer for the MMI Holdings SAICA Training Programme. She serves on the board of the African Women Chartered Accountants Forum (NPC) (AWCA), a non-profit organisation focused on the development of black female Chartered Accountants in South Africa.

Saray Khumalo

Experience:

Saray Khumalo joined MMI Holdings in 2014 as Head of ecommerce and partner interactions for Momentum Multiply. Prior to this she worked as an internet business specialist at e-postal, a division of the South African Post Office from 2010 to 2011. She has extensive experience in the financial services industry, first as Head of the FNB Rewards Programme, and then as new business development manager. Saray is also a seasoned mountaineer and using her passion to raise money for education as a Mandela Libraries Champion. In May 2019, she made history by becoming the first black women to summit Mount Everest. This was her fourth attempt.

Prof Bernadene De Clercq

Experience:

Prof. Bernadene de Clercq worked on the UNISA Momentum Financial Wellness Index from 2014 to 2018. She is currently Associate Professor at UNISA’s Department of Taxation, a position which she also held from 2002 to 2010. From 2011 to 2014 she was Head of the Personal Finance Research Unit at UNISA. Prior to this she worked for Saambou Holdings and PriceWaterhouseCoopers before opening her own accounting and taxation practice from 1999 to 2006. She has co-authored numerous textbooks, delivered scientific papers articles in accredited publications. Prof. De Clercq is passionate about financial literacy and sits on the National Consumer Financial Education Committee.

Kerryn Krige

Masters: Social Sciences (Development Studies) – Cum Laude, Honours: Development Studies BA Media and Communications, Erasmus Mundus Scholarship (Media studies), Diploma Journalism

Experience:

Kerryn Krige is Chief Technical Adviser with the International Labour Organisation. She is currently working with the Economic Development Department, to develop a policy for the social economy in South Africa.

She led the Network for Social Entrepreneurs at the Gordon Institute of Business Science from 2012 to 2017. She chaired the programme advisory committee of the IDC’s social enterprise fund and led the first mapping study of social enterprises in South Africa. She is co-author of The Disruptors, social entrepreneurs reinventing business and society.

Kerryn was appointed an Associate Editor for Emerald Emerging Markets Case Collection in 2018 and is on the editorial committee of the journal Social Business.
