Momentum Metropolitan results show record sales and highest ever death claims

Sharing Momentum Metropolitan’s annual financial results for the year ended June 2021, the Group’s CEO, Hillie Meyer, reflected on a year of extremes: “Given our strong presence in life insurance through a number of our businesses, Covid-19 had a severe impact on our financial results. However, despite the disruption that Covid-19 brought about, we are pleased that our Group performed very well operationally.

Momentum Metropolitan becomes first South African insurer to support the international task force on climate-related financial disclosures (TCFD)

Momentum Metropolitan Holdings (MMH) announced that it has become the first South African insurance company to be recognised as a supporter of the international Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). It joins 16 supporters in South Africa and more than 1,000 supporters globally in taking action to build a more resilient financial system through climate-related disclosure.

Momentum Metropolitan opens its 5th Vaccination centre, in Gqeberha to accelerate Eastern Cape vaccinations

Momentum Metropolitan is proud to announce that it is opening its 5th vaccination centre in Nelson Mandela Bay on Monday 12 July 2021. The site will enable South Africa to accelerate its vaccine rollout in the Eastern Cape.

Introducing Momentum Insure: A new name, new offerings and an improved bouquet of products

Following the successful acquisition of Momentum Insurance, previously Alexander Forbes Insurance, by Momentum Metropolitan in July 2019, the Group has successfully completed the final step in the process of integrating it with its existing short-term insurance business – Momentum Short-term Insurance.

Momentum Metropolitan vaccinates at four mass vaccination centres

Momentum Metropolitan Holdings will receive limited stock of Covid-19 vaccines at the end of this week. This enables their mass vaccination centres in Sandton and Cape Town to open on Friday 4 June, and their Centurion and Durban centres to open on Monday 7 June. The centres are open to any South African who has registered on EVDS and is directed to the Group’s mass vaccination centres via the system.

Momentum Metropolitan Holdings concludes exit from Tanzania - Local shareholders step up as majority owners

Momentum Metropolitan Holdings has announced the conclusion of the transaction to sell its equity stake in its Tanzanian Businesses, and thus exiting the Tanzanian market. The closing conditions of the transaction have now been completed which sees local shareholders acquiring Momentum Metropolitan’s 67% interest in Metropolitan Tanzania Insurance Company Limited (MTICL) and Metropolitan Tanzania Life Assurance Company Limited (MTLACL) (together the “Companies”).

Momentum Metropolitan secures accreditation for four mass vaccination centres

Momentum Metropolitan Holdings has completed the registration and accreditation of four mass vaccination centres in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Pretoria, and expects to start administering vaccines later this week in Gauteng depending on the delivery of the first vaccine consignments ordered. The coastal centres are expected to follow suit next week, again dependent on the delivery of the vaccine consignments.
